End of a Season
02/11/2009
We have reached the end of another season, with
reports of large amounts of salmon in the
system but they have been able to stay away from
the
hooks of many anglers. With a very dry September
and October and the rain only coming in the last
week of the season the fishing remained quite
difficult. Reports however have told me that not
all anglers had a tough time with good returns
being made from the Strule especially around
Cappagh, the Drumragh and late on there were a
few nice fish caught on the Owenkillew. P O Neill
is on the gallery with a lovely fresh fish of 6lb
caught on the worm in the last sunday of the
season from the Boat Hole. The trout fishing also
remained good right up to the end with several
visiting anglers reporting good catches of trout
from the Drumragh with many trout to 1lb all
returned safely to the water. Don't forget the
AGM which is always held on the last Thursday of
February !! A good turn out is pleasant to help
give a wide and varied opinion on how things have
went over the last year.
