June 2009
20/06/2009
Angling effort had been slow since the beginning
of June due to the very bright weather conditions
and low water. On wednesday 17th June we have had
a considerable rise in water levels and a more
noticeable presence of anglers has been noted on
many waterways with a few salmon being reported.
Salmon have been caught in the upper reaches of
both the Drumragh and Camowen and with the extra
water trout fishing has again improved. Good
trout flies for the month include greenwells
glory, hares ear, pheasant tails and iron blue
duns.As the evenings get longer some hatches of
blue winged olives may also be seen.
