As can be seen from the latest news we have had a
very successful brown trout competition on the
17th May with some great quality trout coming to
the net.
After the heavy floods and the reports that there
are quite a few salmon in the system news is
starting to filter through that a few of these
salmon have been landed.Several have been caught
around Newtownstewart with Sandie Scobie getting
a lovely fish of around 9lb spinning.(picture to
follow). Reports upstream read well to with
salmon being caught on the water at Cappagh,
around the Army camp and on various stretches of
the
Drumragh and Camowen. The salmon vary in size from
4lb up to 12lb as reports are indicating.
With the warmer weather getting a foothold now
the trout fishing has also improved immensely
with quite a few good trout (between 1lb and 1lb
12oz) coming to the net on the fly. Successful
patterns include Tups Indispensible, Greenwells ,
Iron Blue Dun and also a variety of nymphs
including Pheasant Tail and GR Hares Ear .
