The fishing has been quite good this last month
with a number of anglers getting fish. Eddie
Fisher got a lovely salmon of 16lb 2oz at
Hamiltons on the Owenkillew in the last
fortnight. The biggest recorded salmon to date
this year on Omagh Anglers water. The picture can
be seen in the galery section of the website.
Other anglers have also got fish with T.Mullin
12lb T.Dalton 10lb and G. Maguire 8lb all on the
Owenkillew. Raymond Smithson had one from the
Strule 4lb 8oz at Newtownstewart and another from
the Drumragh 5lb above Omagh. S Martin also got a
5lb salmon from the Brumery on the Strule last
week. J Haran had a lovely sea trout from the
Doochin weighing 5lb 8oz caught on a teal,blue
and silver.I have heard other reportsof anglers
getting salmon from the Camowen and upper reaches
of the Drumragh but have no names orweights to
report. The water levels are droppoing again now
so maybe the salmon will settle a little better.
trout fishing is also excellent and a few anglers
have reported good catches of trout between
3/4lb and 1.5lb on several occasions. The club
has had two Dutch journalists over at the
beginning of July and and being ably assisted and
guided by Shane Colgan , they couldn't wait to
come back for a second days trout fishing. They
returned all trout caught and used barbless
hooks. There were also two large trout caughton
the River Strule at Moy hole at the beginning of
August, one at 9lb caught by local man T. Mc
Bride and one at 6.5lb by a regulaer visitor from
Wales. Tight lines for the last 7 weeks of the
season and don't forget to send your returns back
to the Loughs Agency at the end of the season.
