Fishing conditions have been good over the last
few weeks with the rivers sometimes being too
big due to the heavy rain. A good number of
salmon have been banked recently. Shane Colgan
and Terry Smithson both had fish from Donnells
last week. Two visitors B Rohinson(Randalstown)
and P.Ferguson(Belfast)caught fish on the
Drumragh river near the DryArch on the 3rd
October, one of them a nice fish of about
7lbs.M. Eccles also got a nice salmon from the
Drumragh River on the 3rd October.
Eddie Fisher had a fish of 8lb from the
Owenkillew on the same day as did E.Mc Sorley
who had a fish of about 6lb at the Flats on the
river Strule below Newtownstewart. Eddie Maguire
of
Omagh got 3 salmon over last weekend and P
O'Neill got one from Knox's on the Drumragh. On
the 4th October angling conditions were
excellent around Newtownstewart with 10 salmon
coming from The Ladies on the Strule .Peter
Connelly of Newtown had 2 and R. Duddy took
3.Paul Donaldson also got a salmon at the
Meetings on the Strule at Newtownstewart.
Other reports coming in are that M.McGillion had
a 12lb salmon on the Strule just outside Omagh.
The water is rising again today the 5th October
so the fishing may be limited.
